We here on the home farm of Natures' Way Farms apply unique methods that are incorporated into our farm and growers guide which we outlined here on this website for everyone to use to their benefit.  We would hope that you and every farmer and gardener join in and make simple common sense observations and follow the practical growing methods outlined in our growers guide to maximize the environmental and economic benefits for your community.  Or follow an all natural, organic method of growing, just keep it all natural, however, join in with the local distribution plan, it is essential for success.

We have went through the USDA certification program years ago and found it basically useless for a small farmer.  Unless you have excess profits or money to throw away, we do not encourage small farmers to waste their time or hard earned money on certification programs.  If it is a free certification (doubtable), and does not include a surcharge fee where you get the privilege of paying out 3% to 7% of your hard earned income to some desk jockey in addition to the inspection fee and certification fee for some desk jockey making rules for you, maybe.  But we don't recommend wasting your time and money unless you are a large factory farm shipping food to large corporate food chains or shipping food internationally.

In reality, the people we deal with are our neighbors, relatives, friends whom you know or will get to know personally.  These are your best customers.  We recommend your to build your customer base close to home.

The most important key points to focus on.

  • Building your customer network close to the farm eliminates transportation costs - the principle behind our movement is to eliminate transporting food beyond a few miles of any farm or garden.
  • Keeping food fresh is also a major goal to focus on in our program.
  • Fresh food means higher quality food for your customers, better nutrition, better health
  • Fresh food picked up locally or transported only miles, reduces pollution related with transporting fresh food and keeping it refrigerated for days or weeks
  • Fresh food picked up on the farm or transported a few miles, reduces oil or other resources being consumed to bring you old food to your table.
  • Your neighbors money stays in the neighborhood and local community making the local economy stronger.

Natures' Way Farmers work with nature - working to balance soil minerals, nurturing the life in soil, feeding soil life and tilling with a purpose.
